Dawn breaks over the Kenmore Recreation Ground on 18th August 2024 but it’s already a hive of activity! Around 500 competitors have been up before sunrise to get ready for one of the biggest feats of endurance they will ever undertake – our mighty middle-distance triathlon.
A 1,900-metre swim in Loch Tay, followed by a 90km bike ride and a 21 km run awaits to test their mettle. It was chilly start to the day but luckily it stayed dry all day and the winds were relatively light.
With the water temperature at 13.9 degrees, the water was a little bit nippy! No problem for our hardy triathletes….
Into transition at Kenmore Recreation Ground and ready for the 90 km bike ride.
Through the famous Taymouth Castle gates and out onto our bike route taking in the mighty Schiehallion.
Someone is not too enthralled by the prospect though…
Others a little happier!
Now heading back to transition 2 at the Golf Course Meadow, it’s time to start preparing for the run.
The run is a scenic out and back along the shores of the River Tay with an undulating route.
Finally, back to Wades Park in Aberfeldy for the finish line. Let the celebrations begin!
Congratulation to our first male finisher: Rory Strachan in an impressive 4:15:44! Rory also went onto the win the Scottish Standard and Sprint Distance Championships in 2024!
Our first female finisher was Claire Weller with a stunning time of 4:40:15.

Thanks to Kenny Girvan photography for all the great photos including these drone shots…
We think our triathlon has got to be one of the most scenic in Scotland. See you in 2025 to see if you agree?
